In preparation to my upcoming visit to Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton, I discovered that I had to complete an online travel authorization form 5 days prior to departure from the United States.
FTNNews.com reports the following, “Jamaica, a must-visit Caribbean island country known for its beautiful seas and miles of sandy beaches, striking landscapes, and incredible culture, has opened its borders for all international travelers on 15 June 2020 with some restrictions and requirements.
”All travelers are required to get travel authorization. To get a travel authorization, you need to visit this page.
To get a travel authorization, you will be asked to enter your email address. A One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to authenticate your account.
Then you will need to fill in the Personal, Health and Intended Stay in Jamaica information and complete the Immigration and Customs Form.”
”Your application will be reviewed and a Covid-19 health risk assessment conducted.
If successful, you will receive an email with your Travel Authorization. You need to save an electronic or printed copy of the Travel Authorization as you will need to show it to an airline agent at check-in, or when boarding your flight.
If your health risk assessment level is above the threshold, you will receive an email recommending you do not travel to Jamaica at this time.”
It took me about 15 minutes to complete the travel authorization form, and about 45 seconds to receive an email stating that I was authorized to travel to Jamaica! #WhatWhat!
I’m glad that Jamaica is taking steps to protect their citizens, and the tourists that intend to visit their island nation.
