The Cruise Genius

Cruises have been paused for over a year, the CDC isn’t responding to cruise line letters, and now the CEO’s have met virtually with the White House to help jump start cruising.

CNBC is reporting, “In a meeting with the White House’s Covid response team and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the CEOs of CarnivalNorwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean made their case to replace the government’s phased-in approach to sailings from U.S. ports and to create a clear roadmap that allows sailings to resume this summer, sources in the room told CNBC.

Earlier this month, the CDC updated its Framework for Conditional Sailing Order. However, the agency has yet to specify a date for operators to resume sailing from American ports.

Probably the #1 question I’m asked is, “When do you think cruises will resume from ports in the United States?”

I really don’t know.

It seems to me that the cruise lines are doing everything they can do to resume cruises safely. The resumption of limited cruising in Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific, have nearly 400,000 passengers sailing to date in more than 10 major cruise markets.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic started over a year ago, I’ve visited Palladium Hotel Group resorts in Cancun, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica.

The entrance of TRS Yucatán and Grand Palladium Riviera Maya!

The only time I had to receive a COVID test prior to traveling to a resort is when I flew to Jamaica. The Palladium Hotel Group offers free COVID-19 tests to all guests at all their resorts before flying back to the United States in compliance with CDC regulations.

I sincerely hope that cruising will resume from U.S. ports in 2021, but don’t count on it.

All I can say for certain is that Palladium Hotel Group resorts are open, and do not require you to be vaccinated before you arrive!
